This isn’t your parents’ Internet!
The wild world of the world wide web and it’s siblings is getting more dangerous all the time. Some common sense measures will help to make you safer as you browse. As the animation to the left – courtesy of Google – indicates, encryption plays a big part in staying safe online and keeping prying eyes out of your stuff. Also, make sure that the most sensitive data like your bank account has unique passwords. Whatever you do, don’t use the same username and password for your banking that you use for Facebook account – or anything else for that matter!
Make your passwords hard to guess. Nothing that includes your name. Nothing that is a simple pattern like 123 or abc. Don’t use your home address obviously. Don’t use your zip code. Or your pets name. For about half the world, we’ve just eliminated their favorite password options!
